Whoa Baby!! What a Storm. Portland was blanketed with more snow than it has seen in 40 years, and it all came in one felt swoop. Our car was completely snowed in for about 5 days. I suppose I could have dug it out, had I been so inclined.. but well, I wasn't. So, we stayed in for the most part, venturing out to the Trimet buses a couple of times.
Through it all I was totally reminded of how very blessed we are. On one of our venturing out adventures, Paige and I met a lady who had been homeless the first two days of the storm. She was able to get a voucher for a motel for a few days, but it was quite powerful to be reminded that there are so many in our city with so very little. Paige and I had a beautiful talk that evening as we shared the third week of Advent together, and had the opportunity to pray for the woman whom we had met.
We did manage to make it out for the Christmas Eve service hosted by our church. That was wonderful! It felt so good to see everyone after having church cancelled for the past two weeks. Then we shared Christmas day with our dear friends, Dustin, Misty, and Meg.
We have pretty much thawed out from our foot and a half of snow, and without a doubt this will be a Christmas to remember. (cue Dolly Parton song!)
Blessings to you and yours~
