What a GREAT idea!

So.. I just went to my first ever clothing swap. What's a clothing swap you say? WELL.. it is a super easy (and fun!) way to clean out your closet and add some "new" clothes to your wardrobe. About a month ago I signed up for PDXswap (http://pdxswap.com), thinking that it was a totally cool idea. Well, this week the call went out, and I signed up. So.. Paige and I went down with my four bags of clothes that have not seen the light of day in too long! We met in SE Portland, and were quickly divided into two groups each with their own stack of clothing. At the word, "Go!" we all dove in. (Men would so not get into this, would they?) It was too fun! AND every one was very civilized, although we each had a wee bit of green on our faces when we saw the fabulous finds of our neighbors. :) No, it was great we were all caught up in the joy of FREE clothes! Recycling and sustainability at its best.
It was really fun to see my clothes being worn by others rather than hanging listlessly in my closet. I did hear a comment that totally made me laugh, however. As a young, too cute, twenty something was trying on one of my dresses, I was watching to see her reaction. (People watching is so part of the fun!) And I heard her say, "the dress is cute, but I look like a librarian!" She actually repeated the sentiment to another girl who tried it on. Ah.. sigh, it is true there is a bit of librarian in me, but hey cute hip librarian, right?? :)
It was very fun, and I will be there again. I have really enjoyed finding unique ways to save a few pennies, and it has been great to bring Paige along. It is a good lesson for both of us.
You should really check it out!!
